How does Physics apply to Astronomy?

I know that physics is important if one wants to go into astronomy. Though I’m feeling a little slow at this hour of the night. What do astronomers use physics for? Just for predicting the path of asteroids, how collisions will affect celestial bodies? What aspects of astronomy require knowledge of physics?

With the science of physics, one can find out (among many other things):
What each star is made of
How far away stars are (beyond the parallax method’s reach)
How old a star is
How much a star or planet or moon weighs
What a planet’s atmosphere is made of
How hot interstellar gases are
How old the universe is
How far away a far galaxy is
What interstellar gases are made of
